Hey gang! Check out my latest cover for the inimitable Beatdom Magazine, whose latest issue is on sale now! The theme this time was 'change', and I couldn't think of a better person to draw than poet, writer and activist Amiri Baraka. Starting his career as LeRoi Jones, Amiri Baraka changed his name after the assassination of Malcolm X, becoming an outspoken, controversial figure right up until the end of his life, throwing himself fully into a variety of interests and pursuits. If you look close you'll spot a number of easter eggs in the drawing, such as a nod to one of his favorite songs, 'Autumn Leaves', as played by Miles Davis.
Beatdom #21 can be purchased though www.beatdom.com or on Amazon, and features essays and poetry on William S. Burroughs, Jack Kerouac, and of course, Amiri Baraka.
Thanks as always to Beatdom and David Wills for asking me to contribute!
